The four-year-old child involved in a Friday wreck died Monday evening, according to authorities.
Pulaski County Sheriff Jim Davis said Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital notified his department of the female child’s death late Monday evening. He said she died as the result of injuries received in the wreck on Lowman’s Ferry Road.
Davis said Monday afternoon that a two-year-old child injured in the wreck was in critical condition, but an update on that child’s condition wasn’t available as of press time Tuesday.
The mother of the children, Crystal Lynn Lefler, 35, of Draper, is charged with driving under the influence of drugs (DUID), according to Capt. Jeff Saunders. Davis said Tuesday the investigation is continuing. No additional charges have been filed at this point.
Saunders said Lefler’s 2008 Chevrolet ran off the right side of the road, hit a tree and then rolled into a field, ejecting one of the children. Lefler and the children were transported to area hospitals, then both children were airlifted to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
