The Pulaski Town Council voted to execute a contract for $32,700 for the appropriated fund balance to move forward with their project to renovate the visiting team clubhouse at Calfee Park.
This has been a continuous subject at several town council meetings over the past year, as the facilities have been overdue for upgrades. The current existing floor plan for the visitor’s clubhouse highlights various deficiencies, such as the fact that the locker room, water closet, and lavatory do not meet minimum requirements, while the toilet room is not compliant with the current building code.
Thompson & Litton, a Radford-based architectural and engineering firm, provided a financial report that was presented during the meeting. The same report was also submitted to officials with Minor League Baseball and the Appalachian League, and included a proposal for design services.
According to Town Manager Shawn Utt, the cost for those design services would be needed in order to move forward with the project. Utt also pointed out that those funds would be incorporated into the maximum cost estimate of $300,000 that the council had already discussed.
