WYTHEVILLE — Wythe County is among five locations chosen for meetings that will update producers on the 2014 Farm Bill.
The Wythe County meeting will be held Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 9 a.m. in Galax Hall on Wytheville Community College campus. Meetings are sponsored by Virginia Farm Bureau Federation and are designed to update producers on new and modified programs available under the farm bill.
Farmers and farmland owners are welcome to attend the meetings, which last between two to three hours and include refreshments. At the conclusion of the presentation, those in attendance will have a chance to meet with U.S. Department of Agriculture staff to obtain further information.
Topics to be addressed include commodity and farm loan programs, risk management and crop insurance, conservation and natural resources, value-added agriculture, and rural energy.
Other meetings scheduled are:
•Aug. 1, 1 p.m., Southern Virginia Higher Education Center in South Boston.
•Aug. 20, 9 a.m., Weyers Cave Community Center in Augusta County
•Aug. 26, 9 a.m., Paul D. Camp Community College’s Workforce Development Center in the city of Franklin
•Aug. 28, 9 a.m., Meadow Pavilion (Gate 2) at The Meadow Event Park in Caroline County.
