Virginia higher education students, including those at New River Community College, will have access to software used in their chosen manufacturing careers thanks to a grant from the global buildings technology company Siemens.
Siemens will provide more than $1 billion in in-kind software grants to state community colleges and universities for use in manufacturing programs. NRCC will receive a grant of over $1 million for its advanced manufacturing program.
The grants will allow students to access Siemens’ product lifecycle management (PLM) software that is used in the global manufacturing industry “to design, develop and manufacture some of the world’s most sophisticated products.”
Siemens announced the awarding of grants at the Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing as part of a recent advanced manufacturing event.
