BARREN SPRINGS, Va. — James Franklin Moore, age 82, of Barren Springs, Va., passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014 in New River Valley Medical Center.
Born Oct. 8, 1931 in Pulaski, Va., he was the son of the late Samuel Paul Moore and Ethel Suzie LaRue Moore. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen Marie Cook Moore; sister, Margaret Ellen Moore Childress Landreth; two brothers, George Walter Moore and Albert Donald Moore, and grandson, Jason Arehart.
He was retired from Lynchburg Foundry. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War.
Surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, David Franklin and Lisa M. Moore of Barren Springs, Va., James Anthony “Jimmy” and Susan Moore of Hudson, N.C., Douglas Wayne and Melissa Ann Moore of Barren Springs, Va.; grandchildren, Missy Moore, Linda Knollmeyer and husband, Clark, Brittany Moore and Chris Miller, and Douglas Moore and wife, Marlee; great-grandchildren, Halynn Oquendo, Adasha Marie Miller, and Zoe Brooke Moore; sister, Emma Jean Moore Jones Woodyard of Radford, Va., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 22, 2014, at 2 p.m., in Bower Funeral Home Chapel, Pulaski, Va., with the Rev. Dale Akers officiating. Interment will follow in Smith-Lindsey Cemetery, Carroll County, Va. The family will receive friends Sunday, 1-2 p.m., at Bower Funeral Home.
