Friends of Peak Creek’s (FOPC) next cleanup event is set for this Saturday, June 21.
This weekend’s cleanup will focus on the portion of Peak Creek that flows along Heritage Park on Dora Highway. That part of the creek has accumulated heavy amounts of debris, according to an email from FOPC member Vicky Houk.
The group hopes to remove the poison ivy and poison oak in that area before the event begins and so the cleanup crew can concentrate on the debris.
Those who wish to volunteer are asked to wear long pants, closed toe shoes and long sleeves for protection. FOPC will provide gloves and vests and drinking water.
Rakes, tools to pick up trash, gloves, and clippers will be essential for this weekend’s cleanup as well. The main goal is making the creek accessible and an asset to our community, according to Houk.
The cleanup will run from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. this Saturday, June 21. Volunteers and other members of the organization will meet at Heritage Park parking lot that morning.
