A former Dublin Middle School teacher accused of having sex with a student is to be in Pulaski County Circuit Court Thursday for the setting of a trial date in his case.

Jonathan Edward Bell, 31, of Salem is charged with six counts each of carnal knowledge of a child and taking indecent liberties with a child under the age of 15, according to online court records.

Pulaski County Sheriff Jim Davis said earlier this year that two of the carnal knowledge and one of the indecent liberties charges originated from a complaint filed by a Pulaski County student. The complainant alleges the incidents occurred while Bell was employed within the local school system, from 2006-2012.

Additional charges were returned by a Pulaski County grand jury in April.

Bell was working as an assistant principal at Woodrow Wilson Middle School in Roanoke at the time of his arrest, but he resigned.

He is being held without bond at New River Valley Regional Jail.
