The Annual Claytor Lake Festival will take place this Saturday, June 14 at Claytor Lake State Park.
According an announcement from the Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley (FACNRV), the event’s co-sponsor, the festival will feature art, craft and food vendors. The FACNRV is currently looking for craft and art vendors, for which space is limited.
The Claytor Lake Festival will also include the annual car and motorcycle show, as well as the Old Dominion Historical Fire Society’s antique fire truck drive in and display. Children’s activities will also be featured throughout the day, such as the Everett Lee Yearout Jr. adult and youth fishing tournament and essay contest.
Coast Guard Auxiliary Search and Rescue will show up for a demonstration, and remote control airplanes will perform tricks and stunts. Several Virginia Wineries are scheduled for tastings as well, including Attimo Winery, Belveau Estate Winery, Rural Retreat Winery, Virginia Mountain Winery, Vincent’s Vineyard, and others.
Live entertainment will be part of the festival, including beach music from the Part Time Party Time Band, Encore Band, and Southern Nights Band The Wohlfarht Haus Dinner Theatre will also put on a mini performance from the Broadway musical “Hairspray” as part of the day’s festivities.
The evening will end with fireworks by Grucci as the grand finale.
The Claytor Lake Festival will start at 10 a.m. and end after the fireworks, with live entertainment following. There will be a parking fee of $10, or $5 with five cans of food that will be donated to a local food bank.
