In Loving Memory of Theodore “Sonny” Herman Farmer Sr. who passed away peacefully on May 27, 2014 at the LewisGale Medical Center in Pulaski, Va. where he was surrounded by loved ones. Sonny was 73 years old. Sonny Farmer was born on April 26, 1941 and was a native of Pulaski County. He was the first child of Herman Jackson Farmer and Alice Gypsia Hall Farmer. Sonny was a true country man and a hard worker. He retired from The Volvo truck plant in Dublin, Va. where he worked for 30 years. He loved his blue jeans and flannel shirts and was “particular” about the baseball caps that he wore. Fishing was a favorite sport and if you would visit you would find him sitting in his shed whittling, sawing, cutting, or drawing, watching NASCAR and listening to blue grass on an old radio. Sonny loved being surrounded by his four children and his 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Jackson and Alice Gypsia Farmer and Brother, Larry Jackson Farmer.
Sonny is survived by his devoted wife, Sharron Farmer; sons and daughters-in-law, Ted and Jennie Farmer, Chris and Dana Farmer, and Tim and Jodi Farmer; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Paul DiMaio; sister, Lyda Hinkle; many nieces, nephews and cousins, and 10 grandchildren, Andrew DiMaio, Sarah DiMaio, Rachael Farmer, Liam Farmer, Jackson Farmer, Hannah Farmer, Amelia Farmer, Annelyse Farmer, Rebekah Farmer, and Josiah Farmer.
A Memorial Service will be held for Sonny on Friday, May 30 at 5 p.m. from the Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 815 Randolph Ave., Pulaski, Va. 24301.
Visitation will be from 4-5 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Donations can be made in honor of Sonny to Crossroad Ministries at 1820 2nd Street Radford, Va. 24141.
