The quietest place in Radford is turning up the volume every month this summer, as the Radford Public Library started its summer concert series last weekend.
The library has hosted shows in the past, and this isn’t the first time they’ve attempted a summer concert series, however, this year’s series will the first at the Radford Public Library since 2012. The program was organized by library employee Courtney Amos who was tasked by her supervisor to create an event to get the patrons more involved and interested in the library.
As a longtime supporter of local music throughout the region, Amos said she saw it as a way to bring more exposure for those bands to listeners in the New River Valley.
“I just want to get them recognized,” said Amos. “I know how hard they work, and I would love to see them, and get the public to know what kind of local bands they have around.”
