Joseph Thomas Ryan

Joseph Thomas Ryan, age 72, of Pulaski, Va., passed away Monday, May 5, 2014 at his home. Born July 16, 1941 in Carroll County, Va., he was the son of the late Joseph Thomas Ryan and Virgie Ruth Richardson Ryan. His wife, Maggie Ellen Peak Ryan; one son, Samuel “Bo” Ray Ryan; brother and sister-in-law, Samuel and Elsie Ryan, and sister, Katherine Ogle, also preceded him in death. Mr. Ryan attended Peak Creek Mission of Prayer. He was retired from Long Airdox with over 25 years of service.

Surviving are his children, Joseph DeWayne Ryan and Lynn of Pulaski, Va., Kathy Surface and husband, Bobby, of Dublin, Va., Rebecca Stevens of Pulaski, Va., and Rhonda Wright and husband, Garry, of Ivanhoe, Va.; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; special friend of the family, Deanna Jones of Pulaski, Va.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 8, 11 a.m., in Bower Funeral Home Chapel, Pulaski, Va., with pastors Jim Linkous and Dale Akers officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Christian Church Cemetery, Draper, Va.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 5-7, at Bower Funeral Home.

    Thoughts and prayers for the Ryan Family. I am so sorry about the loss of your Dad. We know that there will be no more suffering and sorrows on this earth for him, I hope that all of the great memories that you have will help heal the wounds.

    Joe was a very special man and will never be forgotton. He has some of the sweetest daughters I have ever met. All of the family will be kept in our thoughts and prayers at Highland Ridge.

    My thoughts and prayers go out to the kids and family of Joe. Growing up with him in our life was filled with crazy fun! He was a great dad to my friends and I’m sure he will be greatly missed. May GOD be with you all. Lots of love and sorrow for you guys. Phyllis Hughes Karsner
