Pulaski County High School senior Erin Hamric is the winner of Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce’s fourth annual Claudia Cervantes Memorial Scholarship.
“Erin is the perfect choice for this scholarship because of her enthusiasm for agriculture and avid interest and success in a variety of extracurricular and volunteer activities,” Chamber Executive Director Peggy White said of Hamrick, a member of the Chamber’s Student Advisory Council. In addition to involvement in volleyball and track, Hamric also is junior class president for the Student Council Association and a 4-H camp counselor.
The scholarship was adopted in 2011 in honor and memory of Claudia Cervantes, a Radford University graduate who worked at the Chamber of three years and served as its communications director. White said Cervantes “had an exceptional interest in agriculture and a passion for educating the community’s youth.”
