The town of Pulaski was awarded a $200,000 grant Wednesday that will help ‘facilitate real estate transactions” by assuring potential buyers the property is free of contamination.
Pulaski Economic Development Director John White said the Brownfields Assessment Grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will primarily be used to focus on the First Street Northeast corridor, but “nothing will prevent us from assessing other sites, too.”
The First Street corridor, between Duncan Bridge and Jefferson Avenue, was the focus of a downtown Pulaski redevelopment and renewal plan developed by North Carolina architect David Gall. The Northeast corridor runs between Duncan Bridge and Washington Avenue.
