The New River Valley Agency on Aging (NRVAA) will be able to provide fans, as well as air conditioners, to people over age 60 through the annual fan care program.

According to NRVAA Program Director Cassie Mills, the program was made possible this year through financial support from Dominion Virginia Powers. Those who are interested in qualifying for the program must meet a certain set of criteria in order to be eligible for the Fan Care program.

Those who want to receive a fan should reside in the New River Valley, and be 60 years of age or older. They also must have a health need for cooling assistance, and meet specific monthly income guidelines.

Older adults in the New River Valley who are interested in receiving fans from the Fan Care program can call the New River Valley Agency on Aging for more information at 540-980-7720. The New River Valley Agency on Aging will start accepting applications for the Fan Care program on Sunday, June 1.
