“Warriors For a Cure,” the Relay For Life team from Family Worship Center (FWC), Memorial Drive, Pulaski, raised $2,000 at a spaghetti lunch, silent auction, luminaries and cook books selling event, Sunday, May 4, the first fund raiser for the team this year.
With funds already turned in, a contribution from the Elks, and a Thirty-One sale, the team, in its second year participating in Relay for Life, has raised over $3,300.
Judy Odell is heading the FWC team with fiscal, physical and moral support from church members, friends and others interested in battling cancer.
The FWC placed fourth in last year’s event, raising some $4,100 in its first year participating in the battle against cancer.
The big day for the Pulaski County Relay For Life begins at 10 a.m. June 21, and concludes at 1 a.m., Sunday, June 22, with events taking place at the New River Valley Fairgrounds on Route 100 just north of Dublin, not far from the NRV Airport.
Various teams are at work throughout the county raising funds and planning their “encampment” for the “big show” at the Fairgrounds.
