Death penalty proposed in baby’s death: Father’s abuse case dropped to focus on capital murder charge




Prosecutors say they will seek the death penalty in the case of a Pulaski man accused of murdering his 5-month-old son, Cory Samuel Cole.

Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Justin Griffith said Wednesday prosecutors are not pursuing a felony child abuse charge against Howard Samuel Cole, 31, so that they can concentrate on a charge of capital murder handed down by a Pulaski County grand jury April 14.

A preliminary hearing was held Wednesday in the felony child abuse cases of Howard Cole and the baby’s mother, 29-year-old Samantha Anna-Jane Taylor Warden of Pulaski.
