April 22 marks the 44th celebration of Earth Day, the grassroots environmental awareness event celebrated in 175 countries.
To mark the occasion, Virginia State Parks will offer programs and volunteer events at all 36 state parks April 22-29. The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) manages the award-winning Virginia State Parks.
Scheduled activities will include volunteer projects, educational programs on recycling and reduced footprint living, and guided and self-guided programs. According to DCR Public Relations Manager Gary Waugh, the purpose is to get people out in nature and enjoying earth’s bounty.
