Safe Haven to participate in GiveBigNRV Giving Day

Safe Haven Child Visitation Centers of the New River Valley is proud to be participating in the region’s first annual GiveBigNRV Giving Day on April 23. GiveBigNRV is a community giving website developed by the Community Foundation of the New River Valley in celebration of it’s 20th anniversary. The site makes it easy for anyone to give online to a favorite cause or organization, and Safe Haven is one among dozens of NRV organizations raising money to support their mission.

Safe Haven is a non-profit organization that provides court ordered supervised visitation for children that are victims of domestic violence, abuse, and neglect. Their mission is to provide a comfortable, safe, and  stress-free environment for children to visit with their estranged parent. In the past seven years, Safe Haven has served over 350 families in the New River Valley and beyond. Operated solely by volunteers, Safe Haven is funded by civic organizations, churches, businesses and individuals along with some grant funding.

The major source of income is the Annual Safe Haven Guns-N-Hoses Charity Softball Game held each summer, when all the local fire departments, local law enforcement and REMSI battle for the coveted trophy. This game serves as a catalyst for the community to support their local area first responders while benefiting Safe Haven. The game will be held this year at Historic Calfee Park on Saturday, July 12.

Safe Haven is encouraging their supporters to make a gift on the GiveBigNRV Giving Day on April 23, when the Community Foundation will be offering additional grants from local sponsors to those organizations with the most giving day donors. It’s a great way to leverage your support and help us meet our mission.
