Pulaski woman not charged with shooting husband

Evidence of a fatal shooting was presented to a Pulaski County Grand Jury involving the death of Danny Reginald O’Dell, according to Commonwealth’s Attorney Mike Fleenor. The Grand Jury considered the actions of O’Dell’s wife, Drema O’Dell, and the circumstances leading up to the March 14 shooting.

Fleenor sent a release stating a thorough investigation led to significant evidence that Mrs. O’Dell had suffered verbal and physical abuse, and that additional evidence established that she had made plans to leave the marital residence in the days leading up to the shooting.

According to Fleenor, “on the night of his death, Mr. O’Dell had confronted his wife about her plans to leave and had threatened to kill her with a gun. Evidence at the crime scene established that Mr. O’Dell was in possession of a firearm at the time of his death.”

The Grand Jury considered all these and other factors when they decided to return Not A True Bill of Indictment against Drema O’Dell, in effect concluding that she acted in self defense when she shot her husband, said Fleenor.

This matter is now considered closed by the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney and the Pulaski County Sheriff’s office.

How sad for the entire family. And most likely before this incidence.
