Southwest Virginia’s own New York Times Bestselling Author Tom Angleberger paid the students at Snowville Elementary School a visit Thursday, April 3 in honor of his newest book, Princess Labelmaker to the Rescue!

The book is one of Angleberger’s many, most of which give a nod to the Star Wars franchise. The Strange Case of Origami Yoda, his first book published in 2010, secured him a spot on the New York Times Bestseller list.  Origami Yoda is a favorite among Snowville students, so they were especially excited to get a hands-on lesson from Angleberger on how to make their own character out of paper.

Angleberger, a former reporter for The Roanoke Times, focuses his books on kids in Southwest Virginia and their homemade Star Wars puppets. He told Snowville students that The Strange Case of Origami Yoda is “not actually, officially, exactly a Star Wars book because it doesn’t take place in a galaxy far, far, away; it takes place here on earth, in America, in Virginia, in Southwest Virginia!”
