A new Career Studies Certificate will be available beginning with the fall 2014 semester at New River Community College.
The “Preparation for Makers in Advanced Manufacturing” certificate is designed to train people in the introductory knowledge and skills of Advanced Manufacturing. Instruction will include skills in design, 3D printing and scanning, robotics, machining and a culminating project where individuals will showcase developed skills.
The certificate requires several courses from across disciplines including drafting, machining and electricity. It will also include a new course in “Makers Technology,” which provides an overview of rapid technologies in Additive Manufacturing that are high productivity tools designed to cut lead times, reduce time to market, increase the quality of the product and improve collaboration within an organization.
Registration is in progress and fall classes begin August 25.Class schedules are available at www.nr.edu/schedule.
