Harrell released on secured bond: Case delayed a fifth time despite prosecution’s objection

By MELINDA WILLIAMS

melinda@southwesttimes.com

Former cheerleading coach Angelia Paige Harrell was allowed to remain free on bond Thursday, but she was required to post surety to cover the bail if she fails to appear in court.

Harrell has been free on personal recognizance bond since she was charged in September 2012 with three counts of embezzlement from the local high school cheerleading program. That means she was released without having to guarantee the bond by posting cash, real property or hiring a bail bondsman.

Due to a felony shoplifting charge filed against Harrell in Arlington County in January, a Pulaski County judge Thursday required Harrell to guarantee the $25,000 bond. She was required to appear before a magistrate to post the surety before being released again Thursday.

You all do not know her like we do. There is no way that Angie did this. So all of these nasty ccomments mean absolutely nothing to us. Keep saying what you want to say. But, we know her and we know the truth! They don’t even begin to have enough eveidence against her. She is a wwonderful person and would never do anything like this! I think this entire county owes her an appoligy after this is over!

I guess she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time – again?

And when she works out a plea deal….we should expect the same from you

Who are “we” you speak of? She was never a “wwonderful person” when my son or I dealt with her, nor was she for many other parents/students.

No one owes her an “appoligy” either. If anything she owes many people an apology herself.

You claim those posting their experiences with her “do not know her like we do”. Well, those she stole from or parents/students she didn’t help as an adviser, we know her for what she is in that capacity. Besides, many of the worst criminals on record had parents, spouses, etc. that were 1000% sure there was “no way” they could have committed the crime….regardless of the overwhelming evidence. So that point of view from you and yours isn’t surprising. What is surprising is that it took so long for one of you to finally respond to the comment section and claim her innocence.

Mr. Parks should be concerned about his clearence status. His job could be in jeopard because of the company he keeps.

Doctor Parks has done nothing illegal with Ms. Harrell and just happens to be the grandfather of her child. It is not his fault that Ms. Harrell is the mother of his grandchild. However, I am glad that the child has a wonderful grandfather on her side to be there for her when her mother is put in jail for the crimes she committed.

Ms. Harrell will not go to jail. She’ll get her hand slapped and instructions to be good. I do feel sorry for the child. Too bad her mother didn’t think of her family, instead of her greedy self, before committing these crimes.

“get the facts” – I suppose you don’t think she is guilty of shoplifting either. She will never get an apology from anyone I know. She is guilty! She needs to pay up and do the time for the crimes she has committed! She is one pathetic individual. The only way there is not enough evidence against her is if, the evidence has vanished! Which in her case is highly possible. I mean come on, how long has this been going on now. Get real people!

    Very true Shirley.

Everyone knows that she is guilty of all charges. She would not have been arrested in Arlington if she was not guilty. The records and the parents know that she was guilty of the charges at the high school. Mike Parks as President Obama’s head of security could be pulling lots of strings. But how long will that hold? She needs to go to trial so that we all can hear the facts.

I can’t imagine that someone in their right mind would shoplift while awaiting an embezzlement trail. Have you all consided that maybe she has a problem? I mean she’s a bright educated woman.

I didn’t find her to be bright at all when I dealt with her. Educated, yes, but you can train a rat to run through a maze.

Her problem is likely same as with many people. They feel above the law. She’s not had to answer for anything to date and is living as if nothing ever happened. Doesn’t do much to deter her obviously.

I’ll agree with you on the “not in her right mind” thing. She’s got some major issues between the ears.

All of you will see after the court proceedings. And by the way this should have nothing to do with Mr.Parks nor the family. What right do you have to get on here and degrade someone whom you don’t even know! How dare you!

Yes, get the facts, we will all see. A good many people do know her and any degradation she has suffered is due to her behavior, not the opinions of the posters on a this thread.
