Pulaski Police Department has positively identified the infant body found in Draper Thursday night.
According to Officer Megan Jennings, an autopsy confirmed the body was that of five-month-old Cory Samuel Cole, who went missing early last week, allegedly while in the custody of his father, Howard Samuel Cole, 31, of Pulaski.
Howard Cole is being held without bond in New River Valley Regional Jail on a charge of felony child abuse stemming from a separate incident that allegedly occurred Sunday, Jan. 26. Cory was last seen with his father around 7 p.m. the following day, according to authorities.
The investigation into the child’s death is continuing, but no charges have yet been filed. Police have not yet received the cause of death.
Roche has declined to comment on the circumstances surrounding the abuse charge filed against Cole.
