Despite a quick start and a lead at the end of the first quarter, the JV Lady Cougar found themselves trailing at the halftime break to the Christiansburg Lady Blue Demons.

Pulaski County took the early 8-0 lead before Christiansburg called a timeout to talk things over.  After an offensive spurt pulled Christiansburg back into the game, the Lady Cougars finished the first quarter with a slim 10-8 lead.

The second half saw the Pulaski offense sputter, and the Christiansburg offense take charge.  By the halftime break the Lady Blue Demons led 19-14.

The halftime speech must have been a good one by JV Head Coach Steve Alley, because the Lady Cougars came out fired up and ready to take control back.  An 8-point run gave Pulaski the momentum and the lead, and by the end of the third quarter the Lady Cougars had outscored Christiansburg 13-6 to take a 27-25 lead.

The final quarter saw Pulaski hold Christiansburg to just 4 points while adding 8 points to their own total to preserve the 35-29 victory.

Savannah Coffey was the leading scorer for Pulaski County with 12 points.  Helen Counts followed up with 7 points, and Laney Cox added 6 points.  Lexy Hurst scored 4 points, and Allison Caudill, Rakia Mattox, and Courtney Stone added 2 points each.

Hope Williams of Christiansburg led all scorers with a game and team high 16 points.

The Lady Cougars will be back in action on Friday in a road game against the Salem Spartans.  Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
