Candyce Gravely, a C.N.A. for LewisGale Hospital-Pulaski, was recently selected as the Service Excellence Employee of the Month for December.

The award recognizes outstanding employees who demonstrate service excellence beyond their job description. Gravely works on the MedSurg Unit, a position she started in August.

According to a news release from LewisGale Regional Health System, Gravely has earned the respect of her colleagues and has proven she is an exemplary employee.

Lori Caudill, Gravely’s MedSurg Unit supervisor, recalled the professionalism she showed when caring for a patient recently. According to Caudill, the patient was unsteady and unable to walk independently.

“The patient was very demanding and was even yelling profanities,” said Caudill. “Despite this challenging situation, (Gravely) demonstrated care and compassion and gave it her best to ensure patients’ safety.”

The Service Excellence Employee of the Month is selected using certain criteria. Primarily, the candidate demonstrates exemplary individual achievement, contribution and performance in their jobs and other related duties beyond their own job description.

Employees who receive the award also demonstrate a positive attitude toward responsibilities, coworkers, customers, and serve as a role model for others. They also exercise servant leadership, take initiative, and carry out additional responsibilities beyond the regular job assignments for the good of the organization.

In the release, LewisGale Hospital-Pulaski also congratulated other employees who were nominated for the award. Those employees were Sheila Ayotte, C.N.A., MedSurg, Rhonda Cable, R.T.T. and Rebeca Baker, R.N., MedSurg.
