CEDAR BLUFF – The reward for information leading to the location and/or recovery of a missing Tazewell County man has now doubled, thanks to a contribution from his employer.

According to Virginia State Police, CONSOL Energy matched the $8,000 that had been raised by Eric G. Smith’s family, bringing the reward to $16,000. The 42-year-old man was last seen Nov. 8 when he left home early in the morning to hunt on property he owns along West Hurt Buggy Road in Cedar Bluff.

“We appreciate the efforts by law enforcement in this case and hope that the increase in the reward will help law enforcement in its efforts to solve this case,” said Cathy St. Clair, public affairs director for CONSOL Energy.

A long-time employee of CONSOL, Smith is a white male, 6-feet, 1-inch tall, about 210 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about Smith or his whereabouts is asked to call the Cedar Bluff Police Department at 276-963-3975 or the State Police at 276-228-3131 or toll-free in Virginia at 1-800-542-8716. Callers can remain anonymous.
