Slowly but surely the Dublin MIddle School boys basketball team continues to improve, and Wednesday they battled their way to a 40-26 win over Floyd Middle School.
Floyd actually took the early 7-6 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Dukes outscored them 9-8 in the second quarter to tie things up at 15-15 at the halftime break.
The Dukes put the pressure on in the third quarter, scoring 12 points while holding Floyd to just 4 points. The fourth quarter saw more of the same, with Dublin outscoring Floyd 13-7 to close things out and earn the 40-26 win.
Another good aspect of the Dukes win is the number of players scoring in the contest. Seven different players scored for Dublin, led by Cole Duncan with 8 points. Jaden Frazier, Jaceri Eaves, Conner Martin, Kellen Dalton, and Braeden Blevins all scored 6 points each. Jason Smith rounded out the Dublin scoring with 2 points.
Cole Sutphin led the way for Floyd with a game and team high 13 points.
The Dukes will now regroup and get ready for a road trip to Pulaski Middle School on Thursday, Jan. 16. They’ll follow that game up with their final game of the season, a road trip to Carroll County.
