Douglas James Phibbs, 91, of Pulaski, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014 in Highland Ridge Rehab Center, Dublin. He was born in Baltimore, Md., Dec. 3, 1922 the son of the late Jessie and Alma White Phibbs. Also preceding him in death were his wife of 64 years, Dallas Shockley Phibbs; son and daughter in law, Jack and Karey Jarrells Phibbs; son in law, Ray Eads and brothers, Temp and Herman Phibbs. Doug was a retired employee of the RAAP.
Surviving are his daughter, Doris June Eads; sons and daughter in law, Jim and Gayle Phibbs and Larry Phibbs; grandchildren and spouses, Ken Eads, Jimmy and Karen Phibbs, Hope and Mark Dalton, and Chris and Kellie Phibbs; great-grandchildren, Chelsea Phibbs, Bryson Dalton, Caileigh Phibbs, Morgen Dalton, Nicholas Phibbs, Sydney Phibbs and Chayla Phibbs, several nieces and nephews; special “adopted” grandchildren and the nurses and CNAs of Highland Ridge Rehab Center.
Funeral services will be held Friday evening at 7 p.m. from the Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Howlett officiating. A graveside service will be held Saturday morning at 11 a.m. in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The Family will receive friends Friday one hour before the funeral service.
