Brock Hughes Free Clinic Hospice Fund receives donation

Wytheville – Dr. John Turski, medical director for Hospice of Southwest Virginia, ran the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 27, 2013 in memory of his daughter, Rachel Turski.

Prior to this event, Hospice of Southwest Virginia co-workers and volunteers hosted a spaghetti luncheon as a fundraiser for the Marine Corp Marathon runner. Thanks to the generosity of the community, Dr. Turski raised a total of $1,775. On Jan. 10, the Brock Hughes Free Clinic Hospice of Southwest Virginia received a check from the national Hospice Foundation for $887.50.

This fund is used to assist indigent hospice patients with receiving care, medications and equipment. This fund is also used to support Camp Wishing Well and other grief support programs in the community. Dr. John Turski, along with Hospice of Southwest Virginia staff, would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Wythe County Community Hospital and everyone who helped support this event.
