Wireless Zone gives back with Toys-for-Tots

A cardboard box sits in the floor of the Wireless Zone of Dublin, adorned with the familiar characters from Toy Story and waiting to be filled with toys.

Wireless Zone will be a center for those who wish to donate to Toys-for-Tots this holiday season. This is the second year the franchise has partnered up with Toys-for-Tots to give to those in need.

To encourage donations from customers, the store has established an incentive program in which the first 25 donors receive a free pair of Koss Earbuds.

According to store manager Eric Vandevander, last year’s donation drive saw an impressive amount of generosity from the community, as most of the donors dropped their toys off without any interest in the headphones.

Although the donations have started out slowly this year, Vandevander expects the box to start filling up as the days wind down to Christmas.

“We’re not really expecting a number, I just want to see the box overflowing,” Vandevander said. “It’s all about giving back to the community.”

Wireless Zone has been advertising the donation drive and incentive program, however, the news has also been spread through word-of-mouth by the store’s customers.

“I think we have a lot of people that now know we’re doing this,” Vandevander said. “Sometimes they may mention they’re coming to help fill that box up.”

The donation drive will go until Dec. 23. To make a donation to Toys-for-Tots, Wireless Zone is located in Dublin at 703 Broad Street in Dublin.
