Martha Bell Largen (Farmer) Janney

ROANOKE – Martha Bell Largen (Farmer) Janney, 81, of Roanoke, departed this life Thursday, Dec. 26, after a lengthy struggle with cancer.

She was reared in Pulaski County by loving parents, the late John and Opal Brookman.  Martha lived and worked many years in Dublin before relocating to Roanoke.

Martha’s brother, Jack Jr., and sister, Faye, as well as a son, Henry Farmer Jr., known as Junebug, preceded her in death. Martha Janney’s only daughter, Betty Lefler of Max Meadows, was at her side when she passed.

Martha is also survived by brothers, William Largen of Dublin and Walter Largen of Wisconsin, as well as a sister, Lou Stump of Staffordsville. Two grandchildren and five great grandchildren were the favorite part of her legacy.

Martha Bell will be intensely missed by her much adored dog, Queenie, and carries with her on her journey to the Glory land, the cremated remains of a previously pampered pup named, Prissy.

There will be no viewing or service per Mrs. Janney’s wishes. Brief comments and a prayer will be presented graveside at 2 p.m.  Monday, Dec. 30, at 5670 Thorne Springs Church Road near Pulaski.
