Donors who give blood at the Virginia State Police Area 24 office in Dublin Friday will have a chance to “triple” their giving by helping Feeding America Southwest Virginia food bank, as well as those in need of blood.
Virginia Blood Services will donate $1 to Feeding America, which serves Pulaski and other Southwest Virginia counties and cities, for each blood donor participating in blood drives held Nov. 27-Dec. 8.
The State Police Area 24 office at 5290 Bagging Plant Road in Dublin will hold a qualifying blood drive Friday, Nov. 29, from noon to 6 p.m.
Donors can triple their giving, however, by also bringing an unexpired non-perishable food item to donate when they give blood. Collected items will be donated to Feeding America Southwest Virginia for distribution through its partner food banks and agencies.
Donations of canned items (within expiration dates) are encouraged, but Feeding America clients also benefit from items such as cooking oil, dried beans, white and brown rice and laundry detergent. Paper products like paper plates, paper towels, napkins, facial tissue and toilet paper are also in demand.
