If you’re looking for some outdoor fun this Halloween, head out to Claytor Lake and New River Trail state parks Saturday, Oct. 26, for some special activities for all ages.
Claytor Lake will hold its fourth annual Halloween celebration from 1-10 p.m. at the Campground D Campfire Circle. There will be a variety of family-friendly activities, including a pumpkin carving contest, campsite decorating contest and campfire stories. Don’t forget your walking shoes and, since the fun continues after dark, be sure to bring a flashlight and jacket.
For more information on Claytor Lake events, call 643-2500.
New River Trail State Park will hold a Halloween Blowout Spectacular 4-7 p.m. There will be a haunted train ride to the pumpkin patch, where participants can pick out a pumpkin to carve. The resulting Jack-o’-lanterns can then be entered into a contest for a terrifyingly special prize.
Admission to the New River Trail Halloween Spectacular is $6 per car. For more information, call the park office at Foster Falls, 276- 699-6778.
