PCPC collecting unwanted meds for disposal Saturday

Pulaski Community Partners Coalition (PCPC) will once again be collecting unwanted mediations for disposal Saturday as part of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Take-Back Day.

Those having unused or expired medications can take them to PCPC’s tent outside Food City anytime between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday and the items will be collected, logged and properly disposed of.

The purpose of the nationwide program is to dispose of medications no longer needed or wanted so they don’t end up in the wrong hands being abused or misused. It also prevents environmental contamination that can result from drugs being disposed of in toilets or the landfill.

Drugs collected during the events are logged by type and dosage and then turned over to the DEA for proper disposal through incineration. No questions are asked and no names are taken from the person turning the drugs over for disposal.
