Riverway 5k in Bisset Park to benefit American Heart Association

RADFORD–The Riverway 5k will be held Saturday, Sept. 28 at 9 am and will help kick off the second annual RiverFest.   The proceeds from the event will go to the American Heart Association.

The cost for registration is $19 before Sept. 28 and $22 on race day. All participants will receive a t-shirt.  There are age and gender divisions.

A one-mile fun run will be held at 10 a.m. and the fun run is free and open to children and adults of all ages.  All participants in the fun run will receive a medal.

Registration on race day begins at 7:30 a.m. and will close promptly at 8:45 a.m.

The 5k and Fun Run course will circle Bisset Park on the footpaths. An awards ceremony and drawings for door prizes will follow the race. Results will be posted on www.runaboutsports.com.

The race is being sponsored by Carilion New River Medical Center, Run About Sports and the Radford Visitor’s Center. For more information or to register, contact Renee Gerow at 540-731-2925 or you can go to www.active.com for online registration.

The Riverway 5K will kick off a full day of family fun with RiverFest!  Scheduled activities include a chili cook-off with tastings, a corn hole tournament, a horseshoe tournament, live music by Southern Nights, children’s activities, craft vendors, food and a beverage garden.
