Reeves wins JV race for Lady Cougars

ROANOKE- The “Clash of the Titans” cross-country race took place last Saturday and was hosted by the Hidden Valley High School. The Lady Cougar’s Head Coach Leslie Mongan decided to have her five Lady Cougars run in the junior varsity race and it paid off.

Pulaski County High School junior Ella Reeves won the 5000 meter race in a time of 21:19, just 18 seconds slower than the time that won the girls’ varsity race. Reeves defeated the other 49 runners in the race while averaging 6:51 per mile for 3.1 miles. Riley Chitwood placed 14th(25:04) while Emily Llaneras (17th-25:26), Erin Hamric (20th-25:54) and Mikayla Cox (23rd-26:41) ran well.

Cave Spring High School finished with 20 points winning the team championship. Pulaski County (41 points) finished second out of four complete teams followed by Salem (84) and William Fleming (91).

The Lady Cougars will compete next Saturday in Bristol, Tennessee.
