Matthew Cameron Akers

Matthew Cameron Akers, our loving son, passed away Thursday Sept. 19, 2013 at his home on Prospect Avenue. He was born in Radford, Nov. 17, 1982. Survivors include his beautiful children, Madison Rose Akers and Cameron Scott Akers; his loving parents, Sabrina and Dirk Akers; brother and sister-in-law Camden an Ashlan Akers; grandparents Jan and J.D. Akers, and Betty and Frank Farmer, and uncle and aunt Frank and Kathy Farmer.

Matthew graduated from Pulaski County High School in 2001. He then attended Radford University for four years. He coached a number of sports in the community, and built strong relationships with many of the area’s youth.

The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22 at Stevens Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service conducted by Dr. David Kester. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Pulaski County Daily Bread.

    Sabrina and Dirk,

I just learned through Rick about the loss of Matthew. I cannot imagine the heartbreak of losing a child. Cannot even begin to imagine. I love you and even though years have passed since I’ve seen you, you are both very dear. My thoughts and love are with you..
