Local woman Natalee Roseberry will be featured in a small role in the season finale of the HBO comedy show, “Eastbound and Down.”

Roseberry said she first heard of the part when she received a call from a childhood friend, who has been in several productions, and, according to Roseberry, is from the area where the show was filming at the time.

“I was surprised to see the number, and when I answered, he said that he was on his Facebook during auditions and the casting director was around and saw my picture,” said Roseberry.

Roseberry said her friend showed her Facebook pictures to the show’s director, who then asked if there was any way she could be in Wilmington, N.C. by 10:30 a.m., the following day. “I was shocked, a little nervous at first but so for it!” said Roseberry. “They told me I would be playing bridesmaid to a super-famous guest star on the show in a mock wedding.”

“We were herded like cattle in my opinion,” said Roseberry. “So many people had come out to be in the show, and were much more experienced than me, but I hit a rock in the road when … they said that my role had been replaced and I was going to be playing a different part now.”

Roseberry was then told that instead of being a bridesmaid, she was going to be a featured wedding attendant to the guest stars at the wedding, with guaranteed airtime. She is not allowed to reveal the identities of the guest stars. “They put me right up front next to Danny McBride and all the stars!” said Roseberry. “He’s a great guy with an extreme sense of humor! He’s a hoot!”

Roseberry is no stranger to acting; she did a lot of acting in high school. “I was Princess Jasmine in Aladdin, Velma – Miss Baltimore Crabs – in Hairspray, and a few others,” she said. “It was something I enjoyed thoroughly and it taught me how to keep everything balanced.”

However, Roseberry says she has “never done anything like this in my life and it was an honor. When we got there, there were trailers with stars’ names on them and tents and security guards everywhere!” said Roseberry. “It was the real deal.”

Eastbound and Down’s eighth and final season begins Sept. 29, with the finale featuring Roseberry tentatively scheduled for Nov. 10 on HBO.
