SALEM – David Franklin Williams, age 85, of Salem, passed away Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013.
He was born in Austinville Sept. 25, 1927, the son of the late James Jefferson Williams and Roxie Riggins Williams. He retired from Cadillac Motor Co. with 33 years of service; was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, and a member of the Knights of Columbus 1802 of Wyndot, Mich. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Marie Williams; infant sister, Lottie May Williams, and brothers, Floyd and James Williams. He was a member of Jordans Chapel United Methodist Church and enjoyed dancing and watching wrestling.
Surviving are his wife, Faye Jean McPeak Farris Williams; son, David Franklin Williams Jr. and wife, Mary, of Midlothian; grandchildren, David and Paige Williams, Brian and Allison Williams and Chris and Melissa Williams; three great-grandchildren; step-children, Ralph Farris of Lone Ash and Debbie and Jerry Chambers of Grahams Forge; step-grandchildren, Eric Farris, Erika Farris and Bradley Whitaker, and sisters-in-law, Margaret Williams of Roanoke and Phyllis Williams of Florida.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 19, 7 p.m., at Reese Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Lee Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until service time. A graveside committal service will be held Friday, Sept. 20, 11 a.m., at Foster Falls Cemetery, with military rites being conducted by Grover King Post 1115 of Hillsville.
