Virginia State Police released information Wednesday on a two-vehicle crash in Washington County involving a school bus.

The 7:05 a.m. crash occurred on Route 645, less than a mile south of Route 611 in Washington County. A school bus reportedly was traveling south on Route 645 when it began slowing to a stop to pick up passengers. As the bus slowed, its amber lights were activated to alert oncoming traffic to stop.

State Police said a northbound 1997 Ford F-250 was unable to stop in time, causing its driver to lose control of the vehicle. The truck ran off the right side of the road and overcorrected, came back onto the roadway and struck the stopped school bus.

None of the 15 passengers on board the bus, nor any of those waiting at the bus stop, were injured. The bus driver, 25-year-old Brandy L. Hoss of Bristol, Tenn. was wearing a seat belt and also was uninjured.

The driver of the pickup truck, Jackie W. Fleenor Jr., 39, of Bristol, Va., was wearing a seat belt and also was not inured. Fleenor was charged with reckless driving.
