Roy Everett McMahan, III, age 74, of Dublin, passed away Friday, Aug. 23, 2013 in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Born Nov. 28, 1938 in Olivet, Ill., he was the son of the late Roy Everett McMahan and Mary Millikan McMahan. His brother, Larry McMahan also preceded him in death.
He was a Captain in the United States Army, having served in Vietnam. He was a graduate of the Hampton Institute in Hampton, Va. and was a past employee of Shenandoah Recycling Company. Roy was a member of Heritage Church in Dublin.
He is survived by his wife, Pat McMahan of Dublin; sister, Peggy Young of Beverly Hills, Fla.; brothers, Paul McMahan and wife, Betty, of Bulls Gap, Tenn., and Ben McMahan and wife, Mary, of Galesburg, Ill.; stepdaughters, Pat Wood, and husband, Gerry of Michigan, and Kathy Sekes and husband, A.J., of Florida; stepson, Allan Wenck and wife, Kangfeng Mei, of Raleigh, N.C.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a very special friend, Gordon Shinn.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 26, 11 a.m. at Heritage Church, Dublin, with Pastor Ron Blevins officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Heritage Church.
