The New River Valley Fairgrounds has released its schedule of events for early fall of 2013.
The Horseman’s Association of Southwest Virginia will hold its Fall Fun Show on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 10 a.m. until final classes are over. Game classes, including pole bending and barrel racing will run from 10 a.m. until around 1 p.m.; show classes will run from 1 p.m. until completion. Ricky Walker will serve as judge for all classes.
Game class winners will receive ribbons while show class winners will receive ribbons and money prizes. Admission for spectators and riders alike is free for everyone 17 and under and $5 for adults. Anyone is welcome to participate but horses must have had their Coggins test. Concessions and a tack vendor will be available.
The Lions Club Flea Market will be held Sept. 14-15 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Admission is free with the donation of a pair of eyeglasses or $1.00 without; children under 6 are admitted free. Parking is also free. There are 100 vendor spaces under roof and approximately 800 vendor spaces outside.
Gates are opened Friday morning preceding the flea market to allow vendors to set up their sites or rent available spaces. Vendors are encouraged to reserve their sites for the next event after the close of the current Flea Market. For inquiries, call the Lions Club at (540) 674-2754.
Saturday, Sept. 28 from 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. will be the Lord’s Acre Sale, with devotions starting at 8:15 p.m. There will be gospel singing all day and plate lunches sold, as well as canned good, cakes, pies and other homemade items.
