Anytime Fitness, touted to be the “largest and fastest growing 24-hour co-ed fitness franchise in the world,” is coming to Fairlawn.
The gym will be located in the facility behind Sheetz that formerly was occupied by Goodwill, according to a building permit issued in July by Pulaski County Building and Zoning officials. The estimated cost of renovations to the building is $250,000.
Floor plans on file with the building permit show separate areas for cardio, strength and free weight training. There will be a classroom for group training, kettles and balls area, tanning room and shower facilities.
According to the Anytime Fitness website, the clubs are independently owned and operated franchises and are open 24 hours per day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Access is protected by a security system that requires a proper key to open doors after normal business hours. Floor plans for the Fairlawn facility show separate member and guest lobbies.
The website indicates membership dues vary by club, but are “generally” less than the average monthly cell phone bill. A membership allows access to other Anytime Fitness clubs at no extra cost, as well as access to the “Anytime Health” website that includes activity and diet trackers, workout planners and virtual coaching.
Employee wellness programs are available for employers.
The website also indicates 24-hour tanning is available on a pay-as-you-go basis or on an unlimited basis through an extra fee added to the membership dues.
There are 1,865 of the clubs in North America, including one in Blacksburg, and 384 worldwide.
