CHRISTIANSBURG – Authorities say retaliation for a fight Saturday evening was the motive behind the shooting of a man in Christiansburg Sunday.
The 29-year-old victim, who is not being identified, was treated and released following the incident, according to Christiansburg spokeswoman Becky Wilburn. She said Andrew Michael Duarte, 21, of Christiansburg was arrested and is being held without bond at Montgomery County Jail.
Duarte is charged with malicious shooting, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and reckless discharge of a firearm.
Wilburn said the incident occurred just after 2 a.m. on Radford Road, in the vicinity of the Depot Street intersection.
