Pulaski County’s own Adaire Theatre will be presenting their production of High School Musical July 19-21 and July 26-28 at the Pulaski County High School Little Theatre.

The theatre group, founded by local performers Kendall Payne and Megan Corsnitz last year, has a vision of bringing quality entertainment to the New River Valley at an affordable price while giving local youth a positive way to express themselves through theatre.

The cast consists of many young talents from the New River Valley. Last summer the theatre group brought the Peanuts gang to life onstage with a musical production of “Snoopy.” The production was a success and appealed to a wide range of viewers. The group tries to choose a production that will appeal to families and believes High School Musical will also be a perfect fit.

“It’s an incredibly exciting production that features a cast of talented high school and college students from across the New River Valley,” explained Payne.

Payne is originally from Pulaski and says he believes in the role the arts plays in shaping the community as well as the positive cultural impact it provides.

Adaire Theatre is in its second season and would love to have a multitude of members of the community to come out and show their support and be entertained while doing so.

“I was excited when we decided to put on High School Musical for our second production.” said Corsnitz, “It’s a fun, energetic show filled with fresh humor and narratives everyone can relate to. We hope to have everyone singing along in their seats.”

High School Musical was an extremely popular Disney channel hit featuring the characters Troy, the popular captain and star basketball player and Gabriella, a shy and highly intelligent member of the academic club. The two break all the rules of their school, East High, when they secretly audition for the leads in the school’s musical. Since being in the musical goes against everything that these characters stand for socially, lots of drama, humor, and excitement occurs from beginning to end of this production.

“Disney’s High School Musical is filled with fun for the entire family,” said Payne. “It teaches acceptance and being yourself no matter what the cost. It’s definitely a show that not only youth can relate to, but everyone.”

Friday and Saturday performances will begin at 7 p.m. and Sunday performances at 3 p.m. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $7 for students and senior citizens.

Advance tickets can be purchased online by visiting www.adairetheatre.com. You can also like Adaire Theatre on Facebook at www.facebook.com/adairetheatre.
