ROANOKE – June B. “Judy” Duncan, 78, of Roanoke, passed away Monday evening, July 8, 2013.
She was born in Roanoke June 27, 1935, and was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Ruby Brown. Surviving are her loving husband of over 49 years, Ralph J. Duncan; a son, Chadwick J. Duncan; a brother, the Rev. Jessie Michael “Mike” Brown and wife, Jo; nieces, Martha Brown Pletcher and husband, Nate, and Laura Brown McMurtry and husband, Tyler, and nephews William, Carl, and Tim Brown.
June was employed by C&P Telephone Co. for 25 years, later graduating from Virginia Western Community College and working for Dr. John P. Kaufman. She was a member of North Roanoke Baptist Church and its Rebekah Sunday School Class.
June’s family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Griswold and the dedicated team of nurses and doctors at the 10 South Palliative Care Unit at Carilion Clinic, Roanoke Memorial Hospital. This team provided professional and loving care for June, giving encouragement and support to her family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, July 12, from North Roanoke Baptist Church, with Pastor Darryl Crim officiating. Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to the North Roanoke Baptist Church Building Fund, 6402 Peters Creek Road NW, Roanoke, VA 24019.
