Despite recent rains and bad weather the fish continued to bite this week at the Rockhouse Marina for their weekly Tuesday night tournament. Interest also continues to grow in the weekly competition, and this week 38 boats took the challenge.
First place honors for the June 11 tournament went to Glenn Gardner and John Willis, who weighed in a five fish limit of 13.03 pounds. Tony Tickle and Randal Aldred took second place with 11.45 pounds. The third place winner this week was Dwayne Lindsey and Robert Rice with a 10.79 pound bag. Due to the large number of boats, a fourth and fifth place prize was also awarded. Fourth place went to Mickey Anders and Wayne Armbrister with a 10.70 pound limit. Fifth place was earned by Wyatt Blevins and Greg Osborne with a 10.14 pound catch.
The big largemouth prize went to Anders and Armbrister for their 5 pound catch. Big smallmouth honors went to Lindsey and Rice for their 3.10 pounder.
The tournaments run from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with a entry fee of $35 per boat per tournament. There is also an optional big fish contest each week.
Only artificial lures are allowed, and only largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass will be weighed. There is an 8 ounce penalty per dead fish at weigh-in. There is a five fish per team limit each night, and there is a 12 inch size limit. Any boat that brings in more than five fish to the scales will result in the culling of the largest fish first. There is also a two pound penalty for bringing in a fish shorter than twelve inches. All boats who enter must go through a boat safety check, and only two anglers are allowed per boat.
