Irene Pearce, age 95, formerly of Pulaski, and most recently residing in Port St. Lucie, Fla., passed away peacefully on May 1, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Laurence N. Pearce, and her daughter, Beverley Osterhoudt.
Irene was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Pulaski. A reception to honor her 80th birthday was held in the Family Life Center in 1997. Many friends and family members attended to her great delight.
Irene will be remembered by many as the only manager of Siglins Ladies Fashion that operated on Courthouse Square in downtown Pulaski from the mid-1950s to the mid-1970s. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. Following the death of Laurence, she moved to Hollywood, Fla. and remained there until moving to Virginia Beach and subsequently to Port St. Lucie, Fla. in 2008.
She is survived by three sons, Larry N. Pearce of Oak Park, Ill. and wife, Joan; Wenifred O. “Wink” Pearce of Port St. Lucie, Fla. and wife, Martha Lou; Phil B. Pearce of Gilbert, Ariz. and wife, Judy; son-in-law Charles H. Osterhoudt of Roanoke and wife, Singleton; and sister Ruth Sandelier of Hollywood, Fla. and husband, Tony. Irene had 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She recently became a great-great-grandmother.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial service to be held at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church on June 29, 2013. A reception will follow at the Family Life Center.
