VDOT urges Martinsville race fans to obey signs

MARTINSVILLE – Virginia Department of Transportation encourages motorists attending the NASCAR Sprint Cup Race at Martinsville Speedway Sunday to follow recommended traffic patterns posted on signs and message boards to reduce traffic congestion.

Pulaski County motorist traveling I-81 to Route 220 through Roanoke can take the exit onto Route 58 to Martinsville to reach the track. Alternately, they can continue on the Route 220/Route 58 Bypass past the speedway interchange and turn right onto a new access road that leads into the speedway.  The new entrance, marked by signs, may provide easier access.

Those choosing to travel through Stuart or take other routes west of Martinsville should stay on Route 58 east and follow signs and message boards to the track.

Motorists should plan to arrive early and expect heavy traffic and delays.
