Radford- The 2013 track & field season started Thursday evening as the Pulaski Middle competed in the Radford Middle School Invitational. Sporting the almost “glow-in-the-dark” new uniforms, the Oriole girls showed excitement as they faced their competition.
Sixth grader Betsy Nall ran a courageous mile race to start her racing career. Jockeying back and forth from first and second the entire race, Nall finished a strong third with a time of 6:21, just seven seconds from the winner.
Anne-Kirk Terry placed in three events with a third place in the high jump (4’), fourth place in the long jump (12’7.5”) and firth place in the triple jump (25’8”). Twin sister Mason Terry placed fifth place in the mile (6:52).
In the shot put competition, Samone Long led the Orioles with a fourth place finish (21’ 4.5”) followed by Jeanette Reed (5th-20’ 8.75”).
The 4 x 100 meter relay team placed fourth (1:03.99) while the 4 x 400 meter relay team placed third (5:24.77).
The Oriole girls will compete at Pulaski High School on Monday evening.
